"And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled."Whether we are in the farming business or not, this promise reminds us that those whose "earnestly" obey God's commandments are blessed...(whether in this life or in heaven).

The Lord Loves You -Deuteronomy 7:6-8
"For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt."I think these verses can be applied to us as Christians...God didn't choose us because we were anything special, He chose us because He loves us, and because He keeps His Word, the promise He made to Abraham years ago.

Faithful -Deuteronomy 7:9-10
The Old Testament is often viewed as the judgmental half of the Bible. Although the law was established in the Old Testament, even this section of the Bible contains encouraging promises for the Christian.
There are two options: Love God and obey Him, or don't. God promises that He will continue to show mercy to those who love Him, and He also promises to repay those who won't.
"Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with Him; He will repay him to his face."
