Christ is All in All -Colossians 3:8-11

I find this promise encouraging as it reminds us of who we are in Christ.
"But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all."

To Live With Him -1 Thessalonians 5:1-2,6-11

This passage is a great reminder/encouragement. Since the day of the Lord is coming, we should continue to seek Him. It ends with the promise that Jesus died for us so we could live with Him.
"But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night....Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing."

Our Father -2 Corinthians 6:16-18, 7:1

This is such an amazing promise...I read it today, and instantly knew that I wanted to share it.
"And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."
The beginning of the next chapter really summarizes what our response should be to all of the promises we've seen in 2 Corinthians.
"Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

Father to the Fatherless -Psalms 68:4-6

"Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, by His name YAH, and rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land."

Sons of the Living God -Romans 9:25-26

"As He says also in Hosea: "I will call them My people, who were not My people, and her beloved, who was not beloved. And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to to them, 'You are not My people,' there they shall be called sons of the living God."

Trust in the LORD -Psalms 21:1-7

This is a longer passage, but I thought it was important to share the last verse I picked out, as it gives perspective to all the other verses. The reason the king receives all of these promises is because He trusts in God.

Reading these promises is a great encouragement for us to do the same!
"The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD; And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his hearts' desire, And have not withheld the request of his lips. For You meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head. He asked life from You, and You gave it to him - Length of days forever and ever. His glory is great in Your salvation; Honor and majesty You have placed upon him. For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence. For the king trusts in the LORD, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved."

I also wanted to point out that I do not believe that these promises will necessarily be experienced in their entirety here on earth. Some of these promises find their fulfillment once we reach heaven.

And that just gives us something to look forward to.

My Feet in a Wide Place -Psalms 31:7-8

"I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, For You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities, And have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a wide place."

The LORD is With Me -Jeremiah 20:11

"But the LORD is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail. They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper. Their everlasting confusion will never be forgotten."

You Hold Me -Psalms 73:22-24

"I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory."

My Spirit Remains -Haggai 2:4-5

Well, it's time to fast-forward to a month later in the story from the book of Haggai.

You see, God is so good...He encourages us throughout our journey...and this is a good example of that as He uses Haggai the prophet to share with them His promise.
"'Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,' says the LORD; 'and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,' says the LORD, 'and work; for I am with you,' says the LORD of hosts. 'According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!'

I Am With You -Haggai 1:13-14

Haggai the prophet was sent by God to the governor of Judah and the high priest.

Why? Because God was calling them to rebuild the temple!

After they obeyed what God had said to them through Haggai, God left them with this promise:
"Then Haggai, the LORD's messenger, spoke the LORD's message to the people, saying, "I am with you, says the LORD."
Hopefully reading that promise will have the same effect on us as it did for them.
"So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,"

Just as they were encouraged through the prophet while they pursued what God was calling them to do, knowing that God is with us should be an encouragement to us as we work out God's will in our lives.

Even to Death -Psalms 48:12-14

"Walk about Zion, And go all around her. Count her towers; Mark well her palaces; That you may tell it to the generation following. For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death."

His Song Will Be With Me -Psalms 42:8

"The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me - A prayer to the God of my life."

Light and Salvation -Psalms 27:1

"The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid."
I wish I had read this verse earlier today...that being said, it's even encouraging now.

This well-known verse is such a great reminder: God saves us, guides us (He's our light), and is also our strength...what a great promise!

No need for fear.

God's Love -Zephaniah 3:16-17

Happy Valentine's Day! In honor of the day, I thought I would share a verse that talks about God's Love.
"In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.""
Wow. God tells us here to not be afraid...because God is with us. He goes on to say that God will save us, He will rejoice over us, and He will quiet us with His love.

Now this love isn't just any love. This love passes all understanding, and is far greater than the love we as human beings show towards each other.

And God promises to quiet us with this perfect love that He has.

Wow. All I can say is, rest in the Lord! True peace comes from Him.

Will Not Cast Off -Lamentations 3:31-32

This is a continuation of the past couple posts, from Lamentations 3.
"For the Lord will not cast off forever. Though He causes grief, Yet He will show compassion According to the multitude of His mercies."

Torn to Healed -Hosea 6:1-2

I saw these verses and I wanted to share them with you...I found them extremely encouraging.
"Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight."
Part of me wonders if the second verse is partially a prophecy regarding Christ's Resurrection...but regardless, I found this promise a good one to remember.

If there is anything separating us from God, we need to repent! God promises that even though He has "torn" us, He will heal us.

The trials in life that beat us down are only the beginning if we turn towards Him. However, these verse's don't promise that everything will be perfect if we repent. What these verse do promise for the Christian is that God will heal us and help us through those hard times.

That's something the world can't offer.
