"Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing."

Considering the Poor -Psalms 41:1-3
"Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed."

Heal our Backsliding -Hosea 14:1-4
This the first of two posts....I really like this chapter in Hosea.
I love God's response to this:
I few phrases really stand out to me.
Hold on to these promises! If we repent and turn to Him, not only will God heal and forgive us, we will experience His love.
"O Israel, return to the LORD your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity; Take words with you, And return to the LORD. Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips. Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, 'You are our gods.' For in You the fatherless finds mercy."
I love God's response to this:
"I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him."
I few phrases really stand out to me.
- "Assyria shall not save us..." -the idea that we can't rely on anyone or anything else to rescue us...Jesus is the only way.
- "Nor will we say...to the work of our hands, 'You are our gods." -Not letting anything in our life get a higher pedestal than God does.
- "For in You the fatherless finds mercy." -Just really like the wording...that only in God we find mercy.
- "I will heal their backsliding." -He will put us in a right standing with God!
- "I will love them freely." -God's Love is no longer withheld from us!
Hold on to these promises! If we repent and turn to Him, not only will God heal and forgive us, we will experience His love.

Faithful to Forgive -1 John 1:9
This promise is a great reminder of God's mercy and forgiveness...if we confess our sin, God will faithfully forgive us and entirely cleanse us from our sins. We serve a great God!
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Bless the Lord -Psalms 103:1-3
"Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,"It's interesting how this promise shows that God is really in control in the areas we think we can solve.
The passage refers to two areas we think we can solve:
-We think we know how to heal people, but really, it boils down to His mercy as the Great Physician.
-We easily start thinking that we can solve our own sin problems, but only Jesus can truly forgive our sins.
If you noticed the comma at the end of the passage, you might realize that this is only the beginning of a list of promises...more to come later!
