"Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons--Because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High, Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two."

Falling Short -Romans 3:21-26
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the Justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus."

Afflicted No More -Nahum 1:12-13
"Thus says the LORD: "Though they are safe, and likewise many, Yet in this manner they will be cut down when he passes through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more; For now I will break off his yoke from you, And burst your bonds apart.""

A Broken Spirit -Psalms 51:16
This is such a powerful chapter. To me, this chapter is the perfect example of being broken before God as we see David pour out His heart to God after his sin with Bathsheba.
This verse that I'm sharing gives us the promise that God won't reject us as we come in brokenness to Him.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-These, O God, You will not despise."

In This Place I Will Give Peace -Haggai 2:6-9
As we continue going through Haggai, we come upon another promise.
The encouraging thing is that this promise still applies to us! When we accept Christ as our Savior, we receive the peace that "passeth all understanding".
"For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts. 'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' says the LORD of hosts. 'The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts. 'And in this place I will give peace,' says the LORD of hosts."This promise points to when Christ came to earth...and the peace that came with Him.

Zealous for His Land (Part 2) -Joel 2:18-19
Here is the continuation of God's Promise in the book of Joel. If the people repented, God promised them this:
To be continued...
"Then the LORD will be zealous for His land, And pity His people. The LORD will answer and say to His people, "Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, And you will be satisfied by them; I will not longer make you a reproach among the nations."
To be continued...
