God's Faithfulness and Might -Psalms 89:8-10
"O LORD God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them. You have broken Rahab in pieces, as one who is slain; You have scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm."

Living by the Power of God -2 Corinthians 13:3-5
"since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who is not weak toward you, but mighty in you. For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you."Such an amazing promise!!! However, I thought it was important to share the verse right after (verse 5).
"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith, Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? -unless indeed you are disqualified."

The Warfare -2 Corinthians 10:3-6
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."
The promise I wanted to point out here is that our weapons as a Christian are "mighty in God"...it's not our strength at work here.

Our Father -2 Corinthians 6:16-18, 7:1
This is such an amazing promise...I read it today, and instantly knew that I wanted to share it.
"And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."The beginning of the next chapter really summarizes what our response should be to all of the promises we've seen in 2 Corinthians.
"Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

The Man You Choose -Psalms 65:4-8
"Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple. By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas; Who established the mountains by His strength, Being clothed with power; You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of the waves, and the tumult of the peoples. They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs; You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice."

To God Belongs Mercy -Psalms 62:11-12
"God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For you render to each one according to his work."

Shield of Your Salvation -Psalms 18:35

Everlasting Strength -Isaiah 26:4-6
"Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength. For He brings down those who dwell on high, The lofty city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust. The foot shall tread it down-The feet of the poor And the steps of the needy."

Reserved in Heaven for You -1 Peter 1:3-5
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."This is a powerful passage.
That God through His mercy has given us new life, a new hope through Christ's Resurrection.
What is this hope?
An inheritance that will never get old or get corrupted, waiting for us in heaven.

The Refuge in the Day of My Trouble -Psalms 59:16
"But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble."

Hairs of you Head -Luke 12:4-7
"And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of our head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."

The Power of God To Salvation -Romans 1:16
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. "This verse is a good reminder of how we can rest in the promise of Salvation...this verse is a reminder to us that through the Gospel, our powerful God has saved those who would believe.

God's Love -Zephaniah 3:16-17
Happy Valentine's Day! In honor of the day, I thought I would share a verse that talks about God's Love.
Now this love isn't just any love. This love passes all understanding, and is far greater than the love we as human beings show towards each other.
And God promises to quiet us with this perfect love that He has.
Wow. All I can say is, rest in the Lord! True peace comes from Him.
"In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.""Wow. God tells us here to not be afraid...because God is with us. He goes on to say that God will save us, He will rejoice over us, and He will quiet us with His love.
Now this love isn't just any love. This love passes all understanding, and is far greater than the love we as human beings show towards each other.
And God promises to quiet us with this perfect love that He has.

Deliver the Godly -2 Peter 2:9
"then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment."I need to give a little introduction to this verse...we've been going through 2 Peter in church, and we had been looking at this verse today (verses 4-10).
Right before this, we get a history lesson that recounts some of the things God has done:
- He punished the angels who sinned (v.s. 4)
- Destroyed the earth, but saved Noah (v.s.5)
- Destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (v.s. 6)
- Delivered Lot (v.s. 7-8)
I think it's cool when God reminds us of what He's done in the past...we can use it as encouragement to remind us that God really is in control.

How Can This Be? -John 1:34-37
This a continuation of the last blog post....and this promise really is a good reminder of how God really is in control of everything.
And lastly I saw the promise that through God, nothing is impossible. We as Christians should not doubt God and His Word...if He says it will happen, He will bring it to pass.
When we our going through hard spots, and have doubts, let our response to God be like Mary's response to the angel Gabriel, as she says in verse 38, "Let it be to me according to your word."
We can trust God, for with God, nothing is impossible.
"Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible."There are a lot of things that stand out to me in this passage that I found encouraging. First off, I liked the part where it says "the power of the Highest will overshadow you", just remembering that as Christians, God's power overshadows us. I also noticed how this passage also brought up a name for Jesus...it says that the "Holy One who is to born will be called the Son of God." Another thing I noticed is how the angel brought up the fact that Elizabeth had conceived a son. I think that was really to show Mary the power of God.

His Kingdom Will Have No End -Luke 1:32-33
These verses are part of what the Angel said to Mary when she first heard the news.
I feel like this verse is a promise of the power of Jesus...the passages says that "He will be great, He will be called the Son of the Highest, He will receive the throne of His father David, He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will never end.
Wow. From reading this we get a clear picture of God's Power. Christians can gain encouragement from this passage knowing that this powerful God is in control. Those who aren't Christians need to be afraid for the exact same reason.
I wonder how Mary felt, hearing the news of this birth.
What was running through her head when she heard these words spoken to her by an angel?
"He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."One thing I have found really interesting looking at all the promises/prophecies about Christ is that they often include a name that He will be called. These verses say that He will be called the Son of the Highest.
