Reap in Joy -Psalms 126:5-6

"Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

Your Heart Shall Live -Psalms 69:32-36

"The humble shall see this and be glad; And you who seek God, your hearts shall live. For the LORD hears the poor, and does not despise His prisoners. Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them. For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it. Also, the descendants of His servants shall inherit it, and those who love His name shall dwell in it."

Understand the Lovingkindness of God -Psalms 107:39-43

"When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow, He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in the wilderness where there is no way; Yet He sets the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their families like a flock. The righteous see it and rejoice, and all iniquity stops its mouth. Whoever is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD."

Dry Land into Watersprings -Psalms 107:33-38

This promise is not only about God's judgement, but also about God's provision and faithfulness.
"He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it. He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and dry land into watersprings. There He makes the hungry dwell, that they may establish a city for a dwelling place, and sow fields and plant vineyards, that they may yield a fruitful harvest. He also blesses them, and they multiply greatly; And He does not let their cattle decrease."

Father to the Fatherless -Psalms 68:4-6

"Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, by His name YAH, and rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land."

Crowning the Year with Goodness -Psalms 65:9-13

"You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it; The river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for so You have prepared it. You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth. You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance. They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, and the little hills rejoice on every side. The pastures are clothes with flocks; The valleys also are covered with grain; They shout for joy, they also sing."

Cannot be Recounted -Psalms 40:5

This is a different kind of promise...I view it as a promise, because it reminds us just how much God is involved in our lives...He has done so many wonderful things for us, and we easily forget, or don't even realize it's God's hand working in our lives.

So hold on to this promise...it's a reminder that God thinks about and cares for us.
"Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered."

Not Tempted Beyond What We Are Able -1 Corinthians 10:13

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."

Filled With Plenty -Proverbs 3:9-10

"Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine."

In This Place I Will Give Peace -Haggai 2:6-9

As we continue going through Haggai, we come upon another promise.
"For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts. 'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' says the LORD of hosts. 'The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts. 'And in this place I will give peace,' says the LORD of hosts."
This promise points to when Christ came to earth...and the peace that came with Him.

The encouraging thing is that this promise still applies to us! When we accept Christ as our Savior, we receive the peace that "passeth all understanding".

Dwelling in the Land -Proverbs 2:21-22

"For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it; But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it."

Your Fruit is Found in Me -Hosea 14:5-9

This is a sequel to yesterday's post...
"I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon. Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. "Ephraim shall say, 'What have I to do anymore with idols?' I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me." Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them."
Now this passage is somewhat confusing...to help make it clearer, I underlined the part where God is directly talking :)

I really like this passage, with the two main promises I see:

1) God will be "like the dew" (God is our source of life)...He will revive us "like grain", and help us to grow "like a vine."

2) The reminder that our "fruit" is found in God...not in the world, or in anything we do. And I really appreciate this reminder, because I find myself forgetting this all the time. (I mean, don't we all forget this when we sin?)

So, my goal is to try to remember this phrase from Hosea...

"...Your fruit is found in Me."

He Would Have Fed You -Psalms 81:13-16

""Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries. The haters of the LORD would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever. He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.""
This Promise is kinda different...it's set up more as, "if you had done this, you would have received this."

However this is a promise to us, as we can know that if we listen to God and walk in His ways, He will satisfy our every desire and need. (Though maybe not in the way we expected).

I feel like this promise is pointed to me. Because I'm reminded that every time I sin, I'm not walking in God's ways. And when I sin, I'm shutting out the one thing that can truly fulfill any desire I have.

Listen To God!

Open Your Mouth Wide -Psalms 81:8-10

""Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me! There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god. I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.""

Satisfies the Longing Soul -Psalms 107:8-9

"Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness."

Exceedingly Great Reward -Genesis 15:1

"After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."
The chapter before this verse recounts the story of how Abraham's nephew, Lot, was captured during a battle between multiple kingdoms...and His rescue that Abraham coordinated. At the end of the rescue, Abraham was offered all the goods that He recovered (because He rescued more people than just Lot). However, Abraham refused to take anything!

So imagine what may have been going through His mind at this point...maybe fear, thinking that those who captured Lot could try to come and attack him. Maybe also another kind of fear, wondering if giving up the earthly goods was giving up what ultimately would make Him happy.

And then comes the beginning of the next chapter, where God steps in and reminds him that He doesn't need to be afraid of enemies around him...God is his Shield, his protection. And He doesn't need to be afraid that he is missing out on earthly treasures...God Himself is his Exceedingly Great Reward!

Wow. What a promise! When we start to lose focus, and start looking to the world, remember...God will protect us, and He is our ultimate reward!
