"Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O LORD, and teach out of Your law, That You may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked. For the LORD will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance. But judgement will return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it."

Remember the Works of the Lord -Psalms 77:10-20
I know this passage is long, but I thought it was really good. In the first nine verses David poured out the trouble and sorrow that he was experiencing. After that, he went into the next eleven verses, highlighting some great promises. David encourages himself through looking at the past, and seeing how God was faithful in His promise to lead and to redeem. The following verses also talk about God's strength.
"And I said, "This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High." I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds. Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God? You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples. You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled. The clouds poured out water; The skies sent out a sound; Your arrows also flashed about. The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps were not known. You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron."

The Power of God's Word -Psalms 19:7-11
This passage is a great promise regarding God's Word, (The Bible), and the power it can have in our life.
"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statues of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward."

Refuge and Strength -Psalms 46:1-3
"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling."

Well With Those Who Fear God -Ecclesiastes 8:12-13
"Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God."

Waiting Patiently -Psalms 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps, He has put a new song in my mouth - Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD."

Light and Salvation -Psalms 27:1
"The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid."I wish I had read this verse earlier today...that being said, it's even encouraging now.
This well-known verse is such a great reminder: God saves us, guides us (He's our light), and is also our strength...what a great promise!
No need for fear.
Hairs of you Head -Luke 12:4-7
"And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of our head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."

An Established Heart -Psalms 112:8
As we continue going through Psalms 112, we see this promise to those who are righteous.
"His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies."We aren't righteous...but through Jesus' death on the cross, we can now have His righteousness imputed to us. When we are saved, our heart is established! We no longer need to fear!

A Steadfast Heart -Psalms 112:7
"He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD."Reading this was encouraging for me...knowing that if we truly rest in Christ, we don't need to be afraid of the evil all around us...
Trust in God!

God's Love -Zephaniah 3:16-17
Happy Valentine's Day! In honor of the day, I thought I would share a verse that talks about God's Love.
Now this love isn't just any love. This love passes all understanding, and is far greater than the love we as human beings show towards each other.
And God promises to quiet us with this perfect love that He has.
Wow. All I can say is, rest in the Lord! True peace comes from Him.
"In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.""Wow. God tells us here to not be afraid...because God is with us. He goes on to say that God will save us, He will rejoice over us, and He will quiet us with His love.
Now this love isn't just any love. This love passes all understanding, and is far greater than the love we as human beings show towards each other.
And God promises to quiet us with this perfect love that He has.
Wow. All I can say is, rest in the Lord! True peace comes from Him.

I Am With You -Jeremiah 1:4-8
This comes from the beginning of Jeremiah, where we see how God ordained Jeremiah to be a prophet.
"Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you"
When we are following God's will in our life as He directs us, we can rest, knowing that God is with us, to deliver us from whatever circumstance we are in.
We need to remember, however, that the deliverance may not be exactly what we expect.
"Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." Then said I: "Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth." But the Lord said to me: "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you," says the Lord."I found it encouraging how God told Jeremiah to be a prophet. He starts out by telling Jeremiah how He foreknew, sanctified, and ordained him before He was even born! Then, when Jeremiah says, I am young, I can't speak! However, God explains to him that He will direct Jeremiah. He then ends with this promise:
"Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you"
When we are following God's will in our life as He directs us, we can rest, knowing that God is with us, to deliver us from whatever circumstance we are in.
We need to remember, however, that the deliverance may not be exactly what we expect.

Never Leave Us -Hebrews 13:5-6
"Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"The one thought I wanted to point out is that when we sin, it's a form of covetousness. We're basically saying by our actions that God is "not enough." And this promise reminds us that God never leaves us, unlike sin which is only enjoyable "for a season."
In the end, God is faithful, and He will always be there.
