"Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. He will subdue the peoples under us, And the nations under our feet. He will choose our inheritance for us, The excellence of Jacob whom He loves."

Complete in Him -Colossians 2:8-10
"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."

Your Fruit is Found in Me -Hosea 14:5-9
This is a sequel to yesterday's post...
I really like this passage, with the two main promises I see:
1) God will be "like the dew" (God is our source of life)...He will revive us "like grain", and help us to grow "like a vine."
2) The reminder that our "fruit" is found in God...not in the world, or in anything we do. And I really appreciate this reminder, because I find myself forgetting this all the time. (I mean, don't we all forget this when we sin?)
So, my goal is to try to remember this phrase from Hosea...
"I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon. Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. "Ephraim shall say, 'What have I to do anymore with idols?' I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me." Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them."Now this passage is somewhat confusing...to help make it clearer, I underlined the part where God is directly talking :)

Exceedingly Great Reward -Genesis 15:1
"After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."The chapter before this verse recounts the story of how Abraham's nephew, Lot, was captured during a battle between multiple kingdoms...and His rescue that Abraham coordinated. At the end of the rescue, Abraham was offered all the goods that He recovered (because He rescued more people than just Lot). However, Abraham refused to take anything!
So imagine what may have been going through His mind at this point...maybe fear, thinking that those who captured Lot could try to come and attack him. Maybe also another kind of fear, wondering if giving up the earthly goods was giving up what ultimately would make Him happy.
And then comes the beginning of the next chapter, where God steps in and reminds him that He doesn't need to be afraid of enemies around him...God is his Shield, his protection. And He doesn't need to be afraid that he is missing out on earthly treasures...God Himself is his Exceedingly Great Reward!
Wow. What a promise! When we start to lose focus, and start looking to the world, remember...God will protect us, and He is our ultimate reward!

Earnest Obedience -Deuteronomy 11:13-15
"And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled."Whether we are in the farming business or not, this promise reminds us that those whose "earnestly" obey God's commandments are blessed...(whether in this life or in heaven).

The Upright's Inheritance -Psalms 37:18-20
Hey everyone, today I thought I would go back to Psalms 37.
"The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish; And the enemies of the LORD, Like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away."While the World's way may seem nice now...their temporal pleasures will pass away. It's those who put their faith in Christ who will have the inheritance that will last forever...

Satisfying Our Mouth -Psalms 103:5
...here is the next part in Psalms 103:
This verse reminds me that it is in those times that I should be seeking God the most! God promises here to satisfy our mouth with good things, so that our youth is renewed.
So seek God! I know, even from experience, that Satan will do whatever He can to keep you from seeking Him.
"Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."As Christians, we fall into periods where we lose our excitement for God and His Word. Maybe it's a time when you are following God's will for your life, and you start to lose the energy, the vision that you once had to reach out.
This verse reminds me that it is in those times that I should be seeking God the most! God promises here to satisfy our mouth with good things, so that our youth is renewed.
So seek God! I know, even from experience, that Satan will do whatever He can to keep you from seeking Him.
