He Is Faithful To Do It -1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it."

What a great prayer...

Transformed -2 Corinthians 3:17-18

"Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."

What a promise! We are being changed into His Image...

Forgave My Sin -Psalms 32:5

"I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," And You forgave the iniquity of my sin."

Speak Peace -Psalms 85:8

"I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly."

Temporary v.s. Eternal -2 Corinthians 4:16-18

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."

You Will Live -Romans 8:12-13

"Therefore, brethren, we are debtors-not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

A Broken Spirit -Psalms 51:16

This is such a powerful chapter. To me, this chapter is the perfect example of being broken before God as we see David pour out His heart to God after his sin with Bathsheba.

This verse that I'm sharing gives us the promise that God won't reject us as we come in brokenness to Him.
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-These, O God, You will not despise."

Rich Fulfillment -Psalms 66:10-12

It's Number 200! My 200th post on my blog people! :)
(though, if you want to get technical, it's my 199th promise posted...I had an introduction post that wasn't a promise...)
"For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid affliction on our backs. You have caused men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfillment."

Trials sure do seem hard when we are going through them (mainly because they really are hard!), but we have something to look forward to at the end...rich fulfillment!

Your Fruit is Found in Me -Hosea 14:5-9

This is a sequel to yesterday's post...
"I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon. Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. "Ephraim shall say, 'What have I to do anymore with idols?' I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me." Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them."
Now this passage is somewhat confusing...to help make it clearer, I underlined the part where God is directly talking :)

I really like this passage, with the two main promises I see:

1) God will be "like the dew" (God is our source of life)...He will revive us "like grain", and help us to grow "like a vine."

2) The reminder that our "fruit" is found in God...not in the world, or in anything we do. And I really appreciate this reminder, because I find myself forgetting this all the time. (I mean, don't we all forget this when we sin?)

So, my goal is to try to remember this phrase from Hosea...

"...Your fruit is found in Me."

Patience Development -James 1:2-4

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
We can rest in the hardships of life, knowing that God is in control, and will even take the trials we are going through and use them to help us to grow more and more into His image.

Rest in Him!

Made Without Hands -Colossians 2:11-12

"In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead."

Once Alienated -Colossians 1:21-23

This is a section of verses I really like: it's a reminder that through Jesus' death on the cross, we have now been reconciled to God.
"And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight - if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister."
Wow. We are now considered righteous, blameless in His sight!

Let us be ones that take this promise to heart, remembering the encouragement Paul gives in verse 23, to continue in the faith!

To Will and To Do -Philippians 2:12-13

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
I really like how this verse is encourages us to keep growing in Christ...and also the reminder that God works in us, both to desire and to do what He wants us to do...what a great promise.

Now Light -Ephesians 5:8

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light"
I really like how this verse shows our position...we were once in darkness, but now we are light...

He Remains Faithful -2 Timothy 2:11-13

"This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself."
Here we have in Paul's exhortation to Timothy a reminder that God is faithful.

He is faithful in his promises of life to those who follow Him, and He is faithful to keep His Word and deny life to those who deny Him.

So which side are you on? To me this is a convicting passage, as it reminds me that although I claim salvation, I know my life doesn't always look like that...

...because when I sin, I'm really denying Him.

The Day of the Lord -2 Peter 3:10-13

Wow, I'm really on time this week!

These verses are a good reminder of the promise of Christ's Return.
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
These verses are the verses my Pastor preached on today...I found it an encouraging reminder that since we have this promise of Christ's return, we should be people who live holy lives, people who are expectantly waiting for the return of our Lord. (Verse 11 in the above passage talks about that!)

"Even so, come, Lord Jesus!"

Faithful to Forgive -1 John 1:9

This promise is a great reminder of God's mercy and forgiveness...if we confess our sin, God will faithfully forgive us and entirely cleanse us from our sins. We serve a great God!
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Completing the Good Work -Philippians 1:6

"being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
God, who began a good work in us when we were saved, will complete our sanctification...
