He is My Rock -Psalms 92:12-15

"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."

In the Light of Your Countenance -Psalms 89:13-15

"You have a mighty arm; Strong is Your hand, and high is Your right hand. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance."

Judge the People Righteously -Psalms 67:3-4

"Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on earth."

Falling Short -Romans 3:21-26

"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the Justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus."

Revealing His Secret -Amos 3:7

"Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets."
This is an important promise to remember, especially now...

God has revealed Himself through His prophets, which was then recorded in the Bible. Since we know that the era of prophecy is over, if we hear something that contradicts the Bible, we can know that it is inaccurate.

Your Fruit is Found in Me -Hosea 14:5-9

This is a sequel to yesterday's post...
"I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon. Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. "Ephraim shall say, 'What have I to do anymore with idols?' I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me." Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them."
Now this passage is somewhat confusing...to help make it clearer, I underlined the part where God is directly talking :)

I really like this passage, with the two main promises I see:

1) God will be "like the dew" (God is our source of life)...He will revive us "like grain", and help us to grow "like a vine."

2) The reminder that our "fruit" is found in God...not in the world, or in anything we do. And I really appreciate this reminder, because I find myself forgetting this all the time. (I mean, don't we all forget this when we sin?)

So, my goal is to try to remember this phrase from Hosea...

"...Your fruit is found in Me."

Light is Sown -Psalms 97:11-12

This is a continuation of yesterday's post:
"Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart."

What should our response be to this promise? Verse twelve tells us,
"Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy Name."

Once Alienated -Colossians 1:21-23

This is a section of verses I really like: it's a reminder that through Jesus' death on the cross, we have now been reconciled to God.
"And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight - if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister."
Wow. We are now considered righteous, blameless in His sight!

Let us be ones that take this promise to heart, remembering the encouragement Paul gives in verse 23, to continue in the faith!

Arms Me With Strength -Psalms 18:31-32

"For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect."
I really like this reminder...God is the one who perfects us, and gives us strength.

He is our Rock.

Never Shaken -Psalms 112:5-6

As we continue our journey through Psalms 112, I found this next section really encouraging. It reminded me of the absolute and complete peace we can have through our relationship with God...
"A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance."
With God, we can rest...we are never shaken if we are truly trusting in Him.

And as the verse closes, we are told that we will be in everlasting remembrance.

Light in the Darkness -Psalms 112:4

This is part 3 of our trip through Psalms 112.
"Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous."
I really like the mental image I picture from reading this verse...visualizing light "rising up" in darkness, and knowing that God is our light in this world of darkness.

Then this verse lists some of God's attributes...we serve a gracious, compassionate, and righteous God.

That sounds like the perfection we as human beings have never attained, and never will, apart from Christ.
