My reaction was to get frustrated. The only good thought that crossed my mind was, "Jay, you need to rest in the situation God has you in. There really is nothing you can do about it."
However, there is a huge difference between understanding what you need to do in the moment, and actually responding correctly in that moment. I knew, but didn't act.
It was in that moment that I realized my promise today should be about the peace of God. Verse seven of Philippians 4 says,
"and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."Now that sounds awesome, (and it is), but this promise has more than meets the eye. The previous verse says,
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"Now we get a better perspective. Today I shouldn't have thrown an "all day pity-party", and instead prayed to God and thanked Him for the situation I was in. When we truly rest in Him that way, verse seven promises that God's peace will guard our hearts and minds.
That's definitely a peace that surpasses our understanding.
