"Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."This is one of those promises that I believe has not been completely fulfilled. (If you think otherwise, please leave a comment!) This verse is definitely talking about Jesus, but I believe that this also refers to His second coming.
I like how the name given at the end is, "The Lord OUR righteousness", not The Lord of Righteousness...even though both are accurate, the fact that He is Our Righteousness....is another encouragement for the believer.
This verse is one of those "stop and get perspective" moments. God will come again, and when He does He will come as a King, coming to rule. However, this verse also promises peace to Judah and Israel, which, given the context, I believe means all believers....the true "spiritual" descendants of Abraham...
...and when He returns, the only thing we will be doing is worshiping THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
